Configuring the System Operation Mode

You have to configure gateway operation mode and PCM type, after TCP/IP configuration. This
section describes procedures for system operation configuration.

Setting up Gateway Operation Mode

SMG-400 gateway operates in either of the following 2 operation modes.

☞

Tandem Gateway

: SMG-400 communicates with PBX or KTS over PSTN trunk without

subscriber phone connection.

☞

Standalone Gateway

: SMG-400 communicates with analog telephone with PSTN trunk

with subscriber phone connection through SLC port.

Configure gateway operation mode of SMG-400 referring to the following directions.

1. At the SMG-400 prompt, type ‘pstnmenu’ and press [Enter].
