System Checking and Operation
This chapter explains what must be checked after installing the SMG-3000 and before you begin operating
the system. It also describes how to begin operating the system and how to test that the system performs ba-
sic functions normally during operation.
Before Operation
Checking Operating Conditions
Checking the Ambient Temperature
The temperature inside the room in which the SMG-3000 system is installed must be within the normal op-
erating range 0 – 45oC. Use a heater or air-conditioner to maintain this range if necessary.
Checking the Humidity
The relative humidity inside the room in which the system is installed must be within the normal operating
range 10–90% (non-condensing). The humidity heavily affects electronic equipment and connectors and
should always be checked carefully.
Checking Levels of Light and Dust
The room should be protected from direct rays of sunlight and be kept clean and dust free by installing venti-
lation equipments.
Checking Safety Conditions
•
Check that the building is well protected from lightning or leakage of electricity with a lightning rod or
ground connection.
•
Check that the SMG-3000 system is perfectly upright (not tilted) and level with the ground.
•
Be sure not to put equipment that may cause electromagnetic interference close to the system.
•
Be sure to provide a fire extinguisher nearby. A sprinkler may cause critical damage to the system; there-
fore, we recommend using a carbon dioxide extinguisher.
•
The electricity voltage to the system must be within the range 100-120 V AC or 220-240 V AC, and it
must be supplied from an outlet with no other equipment attached to it.
Starting the System
When you are satisfied that the above conditions have been met, follow these steps to start your SMG-3000
system.
1. Check the status of the storage battery and the electricity supply.
2. Check that all cards are properly installed in the system and all cables are correctly connected.
3. Confirm that the on/off switches on the left-hand side of the system rack, the RCMP-D card and the
RGPS-K card are switched
OFF.
4. Switch ON the main power switch on the left-hand side of the system rack.
