INSTALLATION
TECHNICAL MANUAL
PART 7 JUNE 2002
7.1
PART 7. CHANGING SOFTWARE
The system software is contained on the motherboard. This procedure should be
performed in the following sequence:
1. Check that the battery switch on the motherboard is ON.
Note:
If the documentation with the new software indicates that reprogramming will
be necessary, the battery switch may be switched OFF at this stage to ensure the
system is properly returned to default data.
2.
Switch OFF the KSU and remove plug of battery backup cable.
Do not unplug the
KSU from the AC outlet.
7.2 REPLACING THE EPROMS
The first thing you should do before proceeding is to discharge any static electricity
you may have gathered by touching a ground point such as the cover of the KSU
Power Supply. Next turn the KSU off and disconnect the backup batteries, if equipped,
from the power supply. Remove the AA card by gently pulling on the card. Lay the AA
card face up on a non-conductive surface.
NOTE: It is advisable to use PCMMC to produce a backup copy of the customer
database before turning the system off in case problems arise and the original
database is lost.
1. Remove the four EPROMS using a suitable IC extraction tool and set them aside in
case they need to be re-installed (if AA card is installed, remove it to access
EPROMS).
2. Remove the four new EPROMS from their protective packaging and check that the
legs are straight and undamaged. If the legs are not straight, contact Samsung
Telecommunications Technical Support for assistance.
3. Carefully insert the new EPROMs into the designated sockets. EPROMs are labeled
U703, U704, U705, and U706. The EPROMs positions are marked on the
motherboard adjacent to each IC socket. The EPROM sockets are labeled ODD1,
EVEN1, ODD2, EVEN2 from left to right.
•
U703 is ODD1
•
U704 is EVEN1
•
U705 is ODD2
•
U706 is EVEN2
