Connecting Cable TV Systems
t o t h e T V / V C R
Your cable-ready TV/VCR has a built-in 181-channel tuner that can receive all 68 VHF/UHF
channels plus basic cable channels without an external cable converter box. If your cable
company does not scramble its channels, use these instructions to connect cable to your TV.
Cable without a Converter Box

Plug the incoming cable
into the terminal on the
bottom of the rear panel.
Because your new TV/VCR is
cable-ready, you don’t need a cable
box converter for basic cable
channels.
Cable with a Converter Box
If your cable company scrambles some channels and requires you to use a converter box for
only those channels, use these instructions to connect cable to your TV. You will need the
following pieces of equipment:

A 2-way splitter
l
An RF (A/B) switch
l
Four lengths of coaxial cable
You can find these accessories at most electronics supply stores.
Plug the incoming cable
into the 2-way splitter.

Connect one of the
coaxial cables between
the splitter and the in
terminal on the convert-
er box.

Connect a 3 second coax-
ial cable between the
out terminal of the
converter box and the
“B” terminal on the RF
(A/B) switch.
