Section 6 Trace setting
This section introduces the trace setting method of the S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer in the VNA mode,
including trace opening, closing and calculation, as well as limit line usage.
1 Trace display and calculation
The trace display function can be used to control the contents and quantity of the trace displayed in the
window. Up to two traces can be displayed in each window. The memory must be saved with a trace first
before conducting any trace calculation, and trace calculation is conducted via vector calculation on
previous complex number data displayed in formatting.
Follow the steps below to set the trace display
：
a) Press [Trace]→[Trace Num 1×1>]→[1×1], [1×2], [1×3], [2×1], [3×1] or [4×1] to select the window
number and trace number in the window;
b) Press [Trace]→[Trace 1], [Trace 2], [Trace 3] or [Trace 4] to set a trace window to be current one.
Follow the steps below to set trace calculation:
a) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Data→Save] to save current measurement trace data to the
memory;
b) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Data] to display only the trace corresponding to the measurement
data;
c) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Save] to display only the trace corresponding to the saved data;
d) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Data&Mem] to display the trace corresponding to bot the
measurement data and saved data at the same time;
e) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Data-Mem] to display the trace corresponding to the measurement
data minus the saved data;
f) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Data/Mem] to display the trace corresponding to the measurement
data divided by the saved data;
g) Press [Trace]→[Trace Math>]→[Data+Mem] to display the trace corresponding to the measurement
data plus the saved data;
2 Limit line measurement
a) Press [Trace]→[Limit>] to enter the limit function menu;
b) Press [Limit>]→[Limit Off/On] to enable the limit line test function and display current limit line on the
screen;
c) Press [Limit>]→[Alarm Off/On] to enter the On status of the menu. If the limit line test fails, the
microwave analyzer sends out the “tick & tick” sound for alarming;
d) Press [Limit>]→[Clear] to clear the edited limit line displayed currently;
e) Press [Limit>]→[Edit>]→[Sel Point 1] to switch the limit point of current limit;
f)
Press [Limit>]→[Edit>]→[Pos] to set current limit point frequency, enter number via the figure key,
and select the frequency unit for completion;
g) Press [Limit>]→[Edit>]→[Value], enter the amplitude value of such frequency point via the figure key,
and select the amplitude unit for completion.
h) Press [Limit>]→[Edit>] →[Add] to add a limit point to current limit line.
i)
Press [Limit>]→[Edit>]→[Delete] to delete the limit point displayed on current limit;
j) Press [Limit>]→[Edit>]→[Clear] to clear all limit points saved on current limit;
k) Press [Limit>]→[Save], enter the name via the figure key, and save the limit line edited just now to
the system, which can be recalled by pressing [Limit>]→[Recall>], selecting such limit line via the
touchscreen manually, and pressing [OK] for recalling when conducting the same test next time,
avoiding repeated editing;
l) Press [Limit>] → [Recall >], manually select the limit line file with the touch screen and press [OK]
