Frequently Asked Questions
Question1 - How would I know if the group I created exceeds the
amount of memory available in the Sentinel Key?
In case the size of the group exceeds the memory size of your sentinel key,
then you will get the error (stating that your key does not have sufficient
memory to program the group) while programming the key.
For Sentinel Key with 8KB memory, the group must not exceed 1776 bytes
(in that case the Toolkit displays an error message). The memory size of the
group to be programmed in the Sentinel Key is shown in the
Group
Layout .
Question 2 - How many hardware keys can be programmed at a
time?
On a Windows system, you can program up to 256 USB keys at a time. On a
Linux and Macintosh system, you can program up to 32 USB keys at a time.
However, the time taken will be according to the number of hardware keys
attached. Please also make sure of the following:
■ Do not attach/remove hardware keys during programming.
■
Wait for progress bar to complete (show 100% status complete),
before you remove the hardware keys.
Question 3 - I am unable to program the hardware keys? What
should I do?
An error can occur while programming hardware keys due to hardware or
software reasons. You should verify the hardware key is firmly connected to
the USB port/hub. The LED on the hardware key should be illuminated to
verify if it has been plugged-in properly.
To determine if a programming failure is due to a software error or a hard-
ware error, try programming another hardware key with the same group. If
the programming is successful, the previous error was hardware-related. If
you try programming many keys, and all of them fail programming, the
error is software-related.
