TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

(cont’d.)

Symptom

Probable Cause(s)

Corrective Action

Pump runs, but at a reduced speed.

Ground wire not large enough or not solid.

Check wire for damage, size, and
all connections.

Debris in pump.

Remove pump end plate and check for
debris.

Inadequate voltage.

Check for proper voltage requirements.

Clogged strainer.

Clean strainer if present.

Discharge pressure too high.

Check discharge lines for restrictions or
closed valves.

Full light is illuminated with empty or
not-full tank condition.

Tank level sensor out of adjustment.

Check level sensor for proper positioning
(see installation instructions).

Tank level sensor wiring shorted.

Check level sensor for frayed or
damaged wires.

Tank level sensor is stuck.

Clean level sensor.

Pump switch is activated, but pump
will not run.

DC Model:

Inadequate voltage.

Check for proper voltage requirements.

Ground or power wires not large enough
or not clean connections.

Check wires for proper size,
damage and solid connections.

Motor solenoid damaged.

Check all connections and power voltage
to solenoid actuator post. With actuator
post powered at DC line voltage, the
output (motor connection) is to be at line
voltage. If not, replace solenoid.

Damaged motor.

Check motor by supplying voltage directly
to motor terminals. If motor does not run,
replace motor.

AC Model:

GFI tripped.

Check for damaged power cord and
reset GFI. If GFI will not reset, check for
damaged wiring in motor or improper
voltage supply.

GFI will not reset, but cord, motor, and
switch are not damaged.

Replace power cord.

Damaged power cord or switch.

Replace power cord.

Damaged motor.

Check motor by supplying line voltage
directly to motor terminals. If motor does
not run, replace motor.

Pump runs for 20 seconds and then
shuts off.

DC model pump not priming.

Check for plugged strainer. Check for air
leak in suction hose.

Flow switch mounted backwards.

Check orientation of flow switch.

Flow switch not connected.

Check flow switch connection and function.

No flow switch connected.

Use Jumper 2520-0118.

Red light flashes On/Off.

Check flow switch.
