Safe & Sound Infrared Ear Thermometer SA8094

Instructions 

CAREFULLY READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS ON THIS LEAFLET BEFORE USE.

This item is not waterproof, do not immerse in liquid. To clean, wipe the casing and measuring probe with 

damp cloth or use an alcohol swab or cotton swab with alcohol (70% Isopropyl), ensure no liquid enters the 

interior of the item. Never use abrasive cleaning agents or thinners to clean. Take care not to scratch the 

surface of the probe lens.

Store out of reach of children, in a cool dry place away from dust and avoid sunlight and direct heat sources.

Always consult your doctor concerning raised temperatures and any other worrying symptoms. It may be a 

good idea to establish and record your usual temperature regularly when not ill. 

Whilst individuals may vary, normal temperature is considered to be 37°C. However, body temperature can 

vary from 36°C, up to the normal level. 

A mild rise in temperature would be about would be to about 37.8°C and you should consult your doctor if 

your temperature remains at this for more than 24 hours or if your temperature rises to 38.6°C.

Temperature measuring range 35.5°C to 42°C. The display will show L If temperature is under 34°C and H if 

above 44°C. 

Accuracy is ± 0.2°C between 35.5°C to 42.0°C. 

Operating ambient temperature is between 16°C - 35°C. The LCD will display Er 1 when the ambient 

temperature is out of range and cannot display temperatures.

Directions 

Before measuring temperature, the thermometer should be stabilised at the operating ambient temperature 

for at least 30 minutes. 

Remove the probe cap and cover the probe with a disposable cover, always use a new and clean disposable 

probe cover to ensure hygiene and provide an accurate reading. Ensure the probe cover is fitted on firmly 

before use.

Press the on/recall button to switch on the thermometer a beeping sound is heard and the start up screen will 

appear in the display window. When the screen displays 00.0°C and has an ear symbol, the thermometer is 

ready for use.

Straighten the ear canal by pulling the outer ear up and back to give a clear view of the eardrum. 

For children under one year, pull the ear straight back.

For children over one year and adults, pull the ear up and back. 

While pulling the outer ear, put the probe tip with a new disposable probe cover into the ear canal, insert fairly 

deep with caution. Press the scan button and a short beep can be heard, hold for 1 second. The unit may 

now be removed and the displayed temperature recorded.

If measuring temperature again, wait for the ear symbol to display then repeat measuring process. The time 

between each reading should not be less than 1 minute. 

The unit will automatically store the last 10 temperature readings, to display these press on/recall button, 

each time you press will show the next stored temperature. 

The thermometer will automatically switch off after 1 minute of not being used. 

Replacing the batteries

The display window will indicate the battery symbol when the batteries require replacement. Replace both the 

batteries to ensure the thermometer works accurately.

Remove the battery cover and take out the old batteries. The replacement batteries should be of the same 

type (1.5V AAA) and must be installed according to the correct polarity. Replace the battery cover.

Remove batteries if the unit is not being used for a long period of time to prevent them from leaking. 

Do not throw away used batteries in household waste. Dispose of batteries at your local waste disposal 

centre in the appropriate battery dispose site.
