Using SSH to set the ZoneDirector IP Address on the
AP
Ruckus Wireless strongly recommends that you configure, or stage, the AP part of the
7781CM before mounting it. It is more convenient to connect the administrative computer
to the access point and configure the device in a depot than when the device is already
mounted on the cable strand.
NOTE: In addition to manually setting the ZoneDirector IP address, you can also use
DHCP Option 43 or DNS. For more information, refer to the ZoneDirector User Guide.
1. Collect required equipment and information:
• An administrative computer as configured as described in “Preparing the Admin-
istrative Computer” on page 19.
• One Cat5e or better Ethernet cable.
• MAC address (12 alphanumeric digits) from the outside of the AP case.
2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the administrative computer’s Ethernet port,
and then connect the other end to the 7781CM’s Ethernet port.
3. Change the administrative computer’s IP address to the same subnet as the 7781CM.
The AP’s default IP address is
192.168.100.2
.
4. Start the Telnet or SSH client program on the administrative computer.
5. Log onto to the AP via Telnet or SSH using the following logon details:
• User names:
super
• Password:
sp-admin
If the 7781CM is managed by ZoneDirector, then you receive text similar to this:
Warning: AP is in ZoneDirector-Managed mode
Current or latest ZoneDirector: aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd / :: / 50:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Any configuration changes made in CLI may conflict with the ZoneDirector's
management and will cause undefined results.
The MAC addresses should agree with the ZoneDirector server MAC address, and with
the AP MAC address found in
“Finding the AP and CM MAC Addresses” on page 17.
The ZoneDirector IP address is also listed.
6. When command prompt appears, enter the following command:
set director ip {ip-address}
where
{ip-address}
is the IP address of the ZoneDirector to which you want to
assign the 7781CM AP.
