whenever the talk key is changed (either in CSedit or
from the keypanel).
Note
You don’t need to manually enter the AF assign-
ment for every listen key. You can use the
“Copy Screen” and “Paste Screen” features of
CSedit. See "Using Copy Screen and Paste
Screen", at right.
The Auto Listen Special Function (AL)
This assignment works the same as AF, but the listen key
is automatically engaged when the talk key is pressed.
This is often a good assignment for use with party lines or
individual belt packs and other devices that do not have
data connections to the intercom system, because these de-
vices cannot activate the listen path back to the caller.
You should also use this assignment with the push-button
style KP-12 Keypanel when a talk key is assigned to talk
to a TIF-951 Telephone Interface. Otherwise, the key-
panel operator will not be able to hear the dial tones and
incoming audio from the telephone line.
The Auto Mute Special Function (AM)
This assignment is the opposite of AL. It allows the key-
panel operator to hear the level 1 talk key assignment
only when the talk key is NOT pressed. Auto Mute is use-
ful for talking to devices which echo back the talkers
voice, as it prevents feedback.
The Auto Reciprocal Special Function (AR)
This assignment forces the keypanel to continuously lis-
ten to whatever is assigned to the level 1 talk key assign-
ment. It is commonly used on keypanels which are not
equipped with listen keys to allow listening to devices
which do not have talk-back capability, such as party
lines, belt packs etc. It is also useful to force listening
when it is desirable to have an operator continuously hear
a party line or other source.
Keypanel Setup: Using Copy Screen
and Paste Screen
Copy Screen and Paste Screen let you copy one keypanel
setup to another location. Copy Screen and Paste Screen
are convenient, for example, if you want to quickly pro-
gram all listen keys with the Auto-Follow function assign-
ment prior to configuring your keypanel talk keys. You
can do this by programming all the listen keys on one key-
panel for Auto-Follow, and then copying that keypanel to
all other keypanels as follows:
1.
Begin your first keypanel setup by programming the
Auto-Follow function to all four pages of listen keys
on the keypanel.
2.
Before programming anything else, press the F7 key to
access the Screen menu (or click on the Screen menu
with a mouse). The Screen menu will open within the
keypanel setup screen (Figure 2-18).
3.
Select “Copy Screen” from the Screen menu. CSedit
will copy the entire keypanel setup (which should
consist only of the auto-follow key assignments).
This copy will be retained for the duration of the edit
session or until you select “Copy Screen” again.
4.
Finish your first keypanel setup. When you start on
your next keypanel setup, press F7 again, but this
time select “Paste Screen”. The Auto-Follow special
