Setting for Smooth Operation 

 

Overview

 

 
By setting the acceleration/deceleration time and S-curve operation time on the servo drive, 
the impact that may occur in acceleration or deceleration can be reduced to result in 
smoother operation. 
 

Definition of Acceleration 

 
Acceleration is the rate of change in speed from stop to the motor’s rated speed. 
 

Definition of Deceleration 

 
Deceleration is the rate of change in speed from the motor’s rated speed to a stop. 
 

Velocity Command and Acceleration/Deceleration 

 
The figure below shows the implementation of the speed command by the Servo drive after 
the Acceleration/Deceleration speed is set. It shows that the longer the deceleration time is,
