Synergy Series Operation Guide (v18)
Control Panel Introduction • 2–7
•
The
Aux Bus Assign
group
is an array of 12 buttons that determines the output to
which the Aux Bus row itself is assigned. For example, if
ASSIGN 1
is lit,
selecting sources on the Aux Bus routes them to the switcher’s Aux 1 output. If
ASSIGN 6
is selected, source selection affects the Aux 6 output.
The layout of the
Aux Bus
row is slightly different on each switcher, based on the
differing numbers of crosspoints. The layout of the
Aux Bus Assign Group
is identical
on the Synergy 3 and 4 panels, while the group on the Synergy 2 panel is displayed
beneath the Aux Bus row for compactness.
9. Program/Preset Transition Group
The
Program/Preset Transition Group
allows you to select the type of transition that
you want to perform between the
PGM
and
PST
buses. The buttons and controls are
optimized for safe and easy
operation
during live on-air situations.
You can transition
any combination
of the background buses (
PGM
/
PST
), downstream
keyer 1 or downstream keyer 2 using a cut, wipe, or dissolve. The
DVE SEND
button
also allows you to perform transitions using effects from the
primary
DVE. Transitions
can be performed manually with the
Fader
, or automatically with the
AUTO TRANS
button. A display above the
Fader
indicates the current auto transition rate (in frames).
The layout of the
Program/Preset Transition Group
is identical on all three switchers.
10. Downstream Keyers
Each Synergy switcher includes two
Downstream Keyers
(DSKs) that allow you to key
over output video, immediately before the switcher’s final video output.
Each DSK includes the following controls:
•
Independent
CUT
and
AUTO TRANS
buttons.
•
An array of eight crosspoints allows you to quickly select
any type
of key source:
Self Key
,
Auto Select
(Linear Key),
Chroma Key
, and
PST Pattern Key
).
Crosspoints can be pre-programmed or changed on-the-fly during production.
•
ON AIR
and
N/S
LEDs.
•
An array of DSK modification buttons.
The layout of the
Downstream Keyers
is identical on the Synergy 3 and 4 panels, while
on the Synergy 2, the two DSKs are combined for compactness.
11. Positioner Group
The
Positioner
group is an
assignable
group of controls that allows you to position wipe
patterns on screen. By pressing the desired MLE button in the group (or by pressing the
WIPE
button within an MLE itself), the
Positioner
group is assigned to that MLE.
The layout of the
Positioner Group
is
almost
identical on all switchers, with minor
exceptions due to the differing number of MLE buttons.
Note that if the
Squeeze & Tease 2D
or
3D
option is installed and the
FLY KEY
button
is pressed on an MLE, the
Positioner
can be used to manipulate the X and Y (and Z, if
3D) position of a “flying” key.
Note
Using the
Clean Feed
feature, the downstream keyers can be
electronically arranged in series or in parallel, depending upon your
clean feed setup parameters. Refer to the section “
Clean Feed Setup
”
in the
Synergy Series Installation Guide
for more information.
