Auto Select Key Operating Tips
Please note the following important points regarding Auto Select (linear) keys:
•
If you select a different linear key source, the
KEY MEM
button will automatically turn
on.
•
You cannot enable the
FLY KEY
button (
Squeeze & Tease
mode) for an Auto Select
key, if the other MLE keyer is already flying a key of any type (Self, Auto Select,
Chroma, or Preset Pattern). In addition, you can only fly
one
Auto Select key in an MLE
at a time. Refer to the section “
” on page 7–51 for further details.
•
If the
KEY MEM
button is off, you can adjust the key’s clip and gain settings on a
temporary basis. In this mode, if you want to permanently store the new clip and gain
settings, use the following steps:
a) Ensure that
KEY MEM
is off.
b) Adjust clip and gain for the desired appearance.
c) Press and
hold
the
AUTO SELECT
button.
d) Press
KEY MEM
, and release both buttons.
This procedure re-locks the clip and gain values, and stores the new settings in memory.
Performing a Chroma Key
A Chroma Key is one in which the hole is cut based on a color value (hue), rather than on a luminance
value or an alpha signal. The color is electronically removed and replaced with background video
from another image. Remember that with Synergy switchers, you can Chroma Key on
any source
selected on the
Key Bus
.
The
Chroma Key Setup Menu
provides a dynamic vectorscope graphic designed to assist you in
quickly clipping chroma keys. As you adjust clip, gain and hue, the graphic updates in real time,
accordingly. The menu also lists the individual
Key Fill
and
Key Alpha
sources (the
same source
),
plus the
location
of the selected keyer.
Important
There is no
undo
function. If you re-store clip and gain, you cannot
recall previous values unless you recall settings from memory. Refer to
the section “
” on page 8–9 for information.
Note
This section provides instructions for performing a
Chroma Key
with
the Synergy switcher’s standard chroma key function. For instructions
on using the optional
Ultimatte Insider
function, refer to the section
“
Ultimatte Insider Operation
”.
