2. Remove the controller cable by unlatching the data cable header from the socket and
pulling the header.
3. Follow this cable and remove it from the four other sockets it is plugged into. Also, cut
any tie wraps that may be securing the cable.
This completes the procedure for removing the control cable.
Removing the Floppy Disk Drive
Now that the floppy disk drive cabling has been removed, you can remove the floppy disk drive from
its bracket.
Use the following procedure to remove the floppy disk drive:
1. Remove the four screws securing the floppy disk drive to the drive bracket. Ensure that
you are holding onto the floppy disk drive when you remove the final screw so that it
does not fall out of the bracket and damage any of the switcher components.

2. Slide the floppy disk drive out of the bracket to remove it from the switcher.
This completes the procedure for removing the floppy disk drive. Next you will install the USB
controller into the Synergy 1 control panel.
Installing the USB Controller
The next step is to install the USB controller. There are three main steps:
• Install the USB controller
• Install the USB data and power cables
• Close the switcher panel
Installation
Tip
The data, power, and control cables fit quite snuggly into their sockets.
You may have to wiggle the cable headers from side to side to unseat
them.

Observe all static discharge precautions throughout the procedure.
