Recommended mounting position for liquids
Tank conditions are recommended to be carefully considered when finding the appropriate
mounting position for the transmitter. The transmitter should be mounted so the influence
of disturbing objects is reduced to a minimum.
In case of turbulence, the probe may need to be anchored to the bottom. See
for more information.
Figure 3-14. Mounting Position
A. Inlet pipe
B. Agitator
C. Heating coils
When mounting the transmitter the following guidelines should be considered:
Do not mount close to inlet pipes.
Do not mount close to agitators. If the probe can move to within 12 in. (30 cm)
away from an agitator, a probe tie-down is recommended.
If the probe tends to sway from the turbulent conditions in the tank, the probe
should be anchored to the tank bottom.
Avoid mounting near heating coils.
The probe should not come into contact with the nozzle or other objects in the
tank.
Position the probe so it is subject to a minimum of lateral force.
Note
Violent fluid movements can cause forces that could break rigid probes.
