Possible LAN reset
With standalone devices, holding down the button for longer than 5 seconds corre-
sponds to a LAN reset with the following result: resetting of the LXI LAN default set-
tings to DHCP + AutoIP / VXI-11 discovery on and restarting of the instrument.
8.4.5 Status and Errors During Connection Setup
The connection log can be viewed to check setup of the connection. This requires a
monitor, mouse and keyboard to be connected to the master or slave instrument. Dou-

clicking the user info line of the instrument displays a box containing the history of
the status messages:
If error conditions occur during operation of the cascade, it is recommended to set all
of the instruments in the cascade to the "standalone slave" state, see
Chapter 8.4.4,
"Dissolving Cascade" , on page 861 and to reconfigure them, see Chapter 8.4.1, "Con-
figuration Using CASCADE Button" , on page 854 or Chapter 8.4.2, "Examples of Cas-
cade Configuration" , on page 860. Make sure that the LAN LED is lit on all instruments.
If the instruments cannot be connected to form an operational cascade by following the
described procedure, the clock line should be disconnected at each slave (possibly
several times) and then connected again after a few seconds. This first sets the slaves
to the "standalone device" state and then to the "standalone slave" state, i.e. to the
default state from which it should be possible to successfully configure the cascade.
The state of master and slave is indicated in the Diagnostic Panel (Menu - Utilities -
Diagnostic Panel). A cascade can be dissolved by setting the state to Standalone
Device. A cascade can not be configured via settings made here.
