Numeric values
Numeric values may be entered in any customary form, i.e. with sign, decimal point
and exponent. The range of values is -9.9E37 to 9.9E37. The exponent is denoted
by "E" or "e". The exponent alone must not be used.
Numeric strings
The format specified under "Numeric values" also applies to the individual values of
a numeric string.
Numeric values are to be separated from each other by means of a comma.
Numeric strings are not entered between quotation marks.
Example:
TRACe:SWEep:STORe:AY 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5
Units
Physical quantities may be stated with the unit. Permissible unit prefixes are K (kilo),
M (milli) and U (micro). The SCPI command determines which unit prefixes are per-
missible. If the unit is not specified, then the base unit is used.
Example:
SOURce:FREQuency 1.5 kHz = SOURce:FREQuency 1.5E3
Text parameter
Text parameters follow the syntax rules for keywords, i.e. they also have a long and
a short form. They must be separated from the header by a "white space" like any
other parameter. A query returns either the long or short form of the text parameter
depending on the setting "Longform" in the Config panel.
If a text parameter is set which is already set in the data basis of the audio analyzer
the internal R&S
UPP the internal setting routine is not performed. This behavior
increases the speed of the IEC bus control program.

Strings
Character strings must always be entered between single or double quotation
marks. Filenames also count as strings. Normally, however, single quotation marks
are used, as double quotation marks are used to mark the complete IEC bus com-
mand as a string.
String commands can be written via IEC bus command, even if the respective set-
ting line is not visible in the panel.
Example:
MMEMory:LOAD:STATe 'c:\Config\setup\default.xml'
Block data
The '#' character identifies the start of a block data record which is defined as fol-
lows: #<LengthOfLength><Length><Binary data record> <LengthOfLength> speci-
fies how many characters the following length specification has. <Length> indicates
the number of following bytes of the binary data record. The length information con-
sists of ASCII characters. If, for example, the <Length> of a binary data block is 35,
this involves ASCII character '3' and '5' with the binary equivalents 00110011 and
00110101 or the hexadecimal equivalents 0x33 and 0x35. <Binary data record>
designates the binary data record with the specified length.
