7 Switching On or Off the R&S
SFE100

Observe the basic safety instructions at the beginning of this manual, especially the
instructions on electrical safety.
7.1 Switching On the R&S
SFE100
Risk of instrument damage
Before switching on the R&S
SFE100, make sure that the following conditions are met:

The R&S
SFE100 is set up as described in

Signal levels at the input connectors are all within the specified ranges.
●
Signal outputs are correctly connected and are not overloaded. In particular, do not
exceed the maximum permissible reverse power allowed at the RF output.
The values are specified in the data sheet. Failure to meet these conditions may cause
damage to the R&S
SFE100 or other devices in the test setup.
To switch on the R&S
SFE100
1. Make sure that the R&S
SFE100 is connected to a power supply (for details see
Chapter 6.2, "Connecting to the AC Power Supply"
2. Press the AC power switch on the rear panel into I position (for details see
ter 5.2.1, "AC Power Supply Connector and Switch"
The R&S
SFE100 starts booting:
● The installed BIOS version and some of the computer features are displayed
on the screen for a few seconds.
● The Windows
XP Embedded operating system is booted, followed by the
R&S
SFE100 firmware.
● A self-test is performed.
After booting is completed, the main screen of the R&S
SFE100 is displayed, and
the R&S
SFE100 is ready for operation.
If the external monitor remains dark, proceed as described in
The configuration settings that were active before the R&S
SFE100 was last
switched off are automatically restored.
