The Steelhead appliance fails to
boot.
Ensure that:
• The Steelhead appliance is properly plugged in.
• The power strip or the uninterruptable power supply (UPS) the Steelhead
appliance is plugged into is turned on and is functioning properly.
• The rocker switch on the back of the Steelhead appliance is turned on.
(When on, the rocker switch is in the depressed, or 1 position.)
• For a Steelhead appliance model 30x0 or 50x0, press the start button twice.
Your Steelhead appliance does not
boot and is beeping, which can be
due to a RAID error or a failed
power supply.
First, determine whether the cause of the beeping and failure to boot is a
RAID error.
To determine if there is a boot failure
1.
Use a keyboard and monitor to connect to the Steelhead appliance.
2.
Run the megamgr utility to check for a hard disk failure.
3.
If there is a single hard disk failure on a Steelhead appliance, you can use
the extra hard disk in slot 12 to replace the failed disk. For assistance, or if
there is a hard disk failure on more than one disk in a Steelhead appliance
or on any other Steelhead appliance model, contact Riverbed Technical
Support at https://support.riverbed.com.
If the beeping and failure to boot are not caused by a RAID error, they could
be due to a defective power supply. For assistance, contact Riverbed
Technical Support at https://support.riverbed.com.
