CHAPTER 5
Updating NetProfiler Software
This chapter explains how you download and install new Enterprise NetProfiler software from the Riverbed Support
site.
The Enterprise NetProfiler ships from the factory with the software installed. You can configure the factory-installed
software and begin to use the product. When a new software version is released, or if you need to reinstall the existing
software, you can download and update the factory-installed software.
Note:
To configure and run the factory-installed software, refer to
Chapter 4, “Configuring the Software.”
How to update the Enterprise NetProfiler software
To download a new copy of the software from the Riverbed Support site, and install the software on the Enterprise
NetProfiler, follow the instructions in this chapter.
Note:
If the NetProfiler has an Internet connection, it will attempt to download licenses from the Riverbed licensing server. You can
add or download applicable licenses using the NetProfiler Configuration, Licenses page. Refer to
Chapter 6, “Configuring License
If your system includes Expansion Modules and a Dispatcher Module, you can install them by following the actions
described in the procedure for installing the Base Module.
Note:
Without an external USB memory stick installed, the modules will boot off their internal disks if they lose power or are power-
cycled.We recommend that you reconfigure the BIOS to exclude external USB sticks from the boot order.

Using a web browser, navigate to the Riverbed Support site: https://support.riverbed.com.
2.
Select the software version you want to download and download it to your system.
The Support site provides both.usb and.iso versions of the installation file.
3.
Create a bootable USB memory sticks.
