Setting Media
This section explains how to set the media.
For details about supported media or precautions for handling media, see page 27 "About Media".
Precautions for Setting Media
Make sure to understand the following precautions before setting media:
• Do not mount the table. Mounting it could result in injury or lowered accuracy of the board
face.
• Make sure to wear protectors such as safety shoes and gloves when using heavy media.
Otherwise, it might cause an injury.
• If there are vacuuming holes that are not closed with the media in the vacuuming area, lay a sheet-
like material such as paper, film, or tape to close the holes.
• When placing thin media, reduce the adsorption pressure. If adsorption is too strong, marks from
the adsorption holes may remain. For details about adjusting the adsorption pressure, see
page 54 "Setting Media on a Table".
• The periphery of the media may be warped due to the heat. To prevent the media from coming into
contact with the print head, which may cause media tearing and print head malfunction, support
the media with adhesive tape or some other item.
• Take the following precautions when setting the media. Otherwise, a table may be deformed.
• Do not drop heavy media onto a table.
• Do not apply load to a specific part of the media (up to 45 kg/m
2
).
• In the case of soft media, it may not be possible to measure the media thickness. In such a case,
instead of auto detection, measure the thickness with a micrometer and enter the measured value
on the keyboard.
• If you press the vacuum switch multiple times, do so at intervals of 10 seconds or longer. If the
vacuum fan does not operate even though you have pressed the vacuum switch, release the
vacuum switch, wait for 10 seconds or longer and then press the vacuum switch again.
