Safety instructions
These operating instructions contain basic
information that must be observed during
installation, operation and maintenance.
Read before installation and commissioning!
The operating instructions must always be availa-
ble for reference at the place where the ma-
chine/system is used.
In addition to the general safety instructions listed
under this main item on safety, special safety in-
structions are included in other places and must
be observed.
Installation, operation and maintenance must be
carried out by competent personnel.
The area of responsibility, accountability and
supervision of personnel must be monitored
closely by the operator.
If personnel do not have the necessary
knowledge, they are to be trained and instructed
accordingly. If necessary, this can be carried out
by the manufacturer/supplier on behalf of the ma-
chine’s operator.
General danger symbol!
Persons
may be put at risk.
Safety notice!
Failure to observe this
may affect the pump and its function.
EU Community symbol!
Explosion-
protected equipment must be marked
for work in potentially explosive atmos-
pheres.
Warning of magnetic field!
Warning of electrical voltage!
If persons with pacemakers are at risk,
e.g. due to a strong magnetic field, this
warning sign is included.
Notices attached directly to the pump/unit, for ex-
ample:
♦
Direction of rotation arrow
♦
Warning against dry running
These must be observed and remain identifiable.
Non-observance of safety instructions may re-
sult in the loss of any claims for damages.
Non-observance of safety instructions may result
in the following hazards:
♦
Failure
of
important
functions
of
the
machine/system.
♦
Failure of electronic devices and measuring in-
struments due to magnetic fields.
♦
Danger to persons and their personal property
from magnetic fields.
♦
Danger to persons from electrical, mechanical
and chemical effects.
♦
Danger to the environment from leakage of
dangerous substances.
When using the unit in potentially
explosive
atmospheres,
the
sections
of
these
operating
instructions marked Ex must be
observed in particular.
2.1 Proper use
The MNK 200-150-315 pump is a is a plastic-lined,
magnetic centrifugal pump for leak-free pumping
of aggressive, toxic, pure and flammable liquids.
The pump is equipped with a permanent magnet
synchronous drive.
The pump is designed for horizontal installation.
Compliance with the specified physi-
cal limits is important for proper func-
tioning and safe operation, especially
with regard to explosion protection to
prevent potential ignition sources (see
section 2.6
):
♦
It must be ensured that the pump is always
filled with liquid during operation.
♦
For safe pump operation, we recommend a
flow rate that is between 0.3 and 1.1 Qopt. In
any case, the maximum working temperature
must not be exceeded. See
section 2.6.7
. In
case of doubt, consult the manufacturer.
♦
In the case of gas contents >2% and solids
contents, the manufacturer must be consulted
to prevent insufficient lubrication and dry run-
ning.
♦
The machine NPSH value (NPSHA) should be
0.5 m higher than the NPSH pump value
(NPSHR). See also
section 5.4.1
.
Improper methods of operation, even
for short periods, can result in serious
damage to the unit.
In terms of explosion protection, potential ignition
sources (overheating, electrostatic and induced
charges, mechanical and electrical sparks) can
result from these improper methods of operation.
This can only be prevented by observing the
proper use.
In this context, reference is also made to Directive
1999/92/EC (“ATEX 137”), which contains mini-
mum requirements to improve the protection of
