Leak Test
After the cylinder is charged to the correct weight (See Table B) and is torque to the correct value (See
Table A), a leak test must be administered.
1.7.1 Using Revere Leak Test Solution (Part No. 50-CO2-LEAK), pour approximately 2oz. into a
4in. X 6in. poly bag to enclose the entire valve and neck of cylinder. Use 1in. masking
tape (or equivalent), secure the poly bag over the neck of the cylinder. Leave sitting for
1 hour.
1.7.2
The purple Leak Test Solution is a combination of chemicals and water. Based on the
amount of CO
2
leakage, the solution will turn lighter in color or become clear.
1.7.3
If the cylinder valve is leaking, check the torque settings and perform the test again.
1.7.4 If the cylinder valve is still leaking after the second test, discharge the cylinder and
overhaul the valve.
1.7.5 If the cylinder valve leaks after being overhauled and retested, replace the valve.
