Instruction Sheet Cable Holder Type 80 SVII M20
Art.No. 193.009.003
Issued: 01.11.2010
The REUTLINGER Cable Holder Type 80 SVII suspends loads of up to 330 kg on steel cables (wire rope). It
was specifically designed for applications which demand compliance with the accident prevention rules
contained in “BGV C1”, the German “BG – Regulation for Staging and Production Facilities for the
Entertainment Industry”.
The prerequisite for a safe connection is a sufficiently loadable attachment point. This connection to the
connection point must be installed by a trained specialist.
The connection between cableholder and cable is always accomplished in the same way: one end of the cable
is inserted into the holder by lightly pressing it into the springloaded plunger (see illustration).
Now the holder can be randomly affixed along the length of the cable. As soon as a load is attached, it clamps
onto the cable. Be sure to insert the cable into the holder at least far enough to be able to clearly see it protrude
from the other end of the holder.
After affixing the holder in the desired position, screw down the safetynut by hand (do not use tools!) as far as
possible.
Now the full load can be attached to the holder – it can no longer move in any direction. After the load has been
suspended completely screw down the safetynut once more (without tools!).
To affix the holder to another position on the cable, simply reverse the procedure: completely unscrew the safety
nut, take the suspended load off the holder, press down the springloaded plunger with your fingernail. Now the
holder can again be moved up and down the cable.
Remarks and Advice:
cables (wireropes) and holders (incl. the inscriptions) may not be damaged in any way.
the holders´ springloaded plunger must have noticeable spring resistance.
the cableend inserted into the holder must be sealed (tinning; heatshrinkable sleeve)
always use at least 2 holders for each suspended object.
cable deviation from the plumbline may not exceed 5°
cable holders may not be used as connecting element on safety ropes.
The REUTLINGER cable holder type 80 SVII is suitable for the following steel cables: ø 6.0mm (190kg)
ø 8.0mm (330kg)
The use of the following cables is permissible for type 80 SVII cableholders:
galvanised steel wire rope 6 x 19 similar to DIN EN 123854; rated tensile strength = 1770 N/mm²
galvanised steel wire rope 6 x 37 similar to DIN EN 123854; rated tensile strength = 1770N/mm²
The minimum tensile strengths of cables used may not be lower than those inscribed on the holders.
Outside the realm of validity of BGV C1 the Safe Working Loads (SWL) according to EN 605981 Part 4,
§14.1. are the following: ø5.0mm..................................................................................................... 200kg
