4.3.2.2 Microsoft Ballpoint instead of MWS USB Virtual COM

Windows often wrongly installs a driver for "

Microsoft Ballpoint Mouse"

when connecting a USB

device althogh there is no mouse connected at all.

This results in malfunction of the driver for the MWS 55.

The problem may be solved by a change in the registry.

To perform you start the registry editor by pressing the WINDOWS KEY + R and then type

re-

gedit

and press OK.

In the next window you choose

YES

In the Registry editor you navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sermouse\

and right click on

Start

and choose

modify

Increase the value, i.e. to 30.

This should prevent Windows from searching for a serial mouse at COM-ports below 30 and

wrongly installing the driver for the serial ballpoint mouse.
