Note!
The following points must be observed for closed systems:
•
Provide a certified pressure relief device.
•
Note that water may drip from the discharge pipe of the pressure relief device. This pipe must be left open to atmosphere, be
located in a frost free environment and be installed with a continuous downward inclination.
•
Regularly test the functioning of the pressure relief device. Also use the function test to remove limescale deposits and to ensure
that the pressure relief device is not blocked.
If a pressure-free connection exists, provide recirculation and shut-off valves as well as a commercial fitting for the pressure-free
connection.

ATTENTION
Attention – Device damage due to dry-running!
Dry operation of the heater is not permitted and will result in the heater being damaged. It may then no longer be used.
•
The device heating elements must be covered with water.
•
Ensure a sufficient water level in the storage tank.
The device will be ready for commissioning when the tasks described in the "Installation" chapter have been completed:
•
The installation in the storage tank is completed.
•
The electrical connection has been created by a trained electrician according to applicable national and local regulations. The indicator lamp
indicates whether there is a voltage at the heating element.
Use the control knob on the device to set the required temperature.
•
The device heats up the water.
Note!
Allow for the water heating time. Heating may require several hours and depends on the following conditions:
•
The power of the device.
•
The initial temperature of the water.
•
Storage tank volume.
•
Volume of drinking water removed during heating.
6.1
Thermal disinfection
CAUTION
Risk of burns
Escaping hot medium can cause burns.
•
Maintain a sufficient distance from the escaping medium.
•
Wear suitable personal protective equipment (safety gloves and goggles).
Thermal disinfection is usually performed within a facility system. The disinfection depends on the facility size.
After device commissioning, complete a thermal disinfection process for the facility system. Legionella bacteria are killed at a water temperature of
> 70 °C.
Ensure these prerequisites for the plant system are fulfilled:
•
All water drawing points must be closed.
Ensure a water temperature of 70 °C upstream of the device heating area as follows.
Proceed as follows:
1.
Use the control knob on the device to set the temperature to 75°C. (Max. possible temperature on the adjustment wheel is 75°C.)
–
The device heating elements heat the water.
2.
Open a tap.
3.
Catch the water in an appropriate container.
4.
Verify that the temperature of the discharging water is about 70°C.
–
Continuous 70°C temperature for three minutes.
5.
After three minutes, close the tap.
Thermal disinfection is completed.
Note!
According to the
Deutsche Verein für Gas- und Wasserfach e.V.
[German association for gas and water professionals], a plant system for
heating domestic hot water must be thermally disinfected.
