d) Installing the flight battery
The flight battery is not part of the delivery. To install the flight battery, proceed as follows:
Remove the cabin hood. Solder a high-current plug-type
system onto the connection cables of the battery and the
rotation speed adjuster. Ensure the correct polarity. Avoid
short circuits.
Slide the battery into the holder and attach it with the Velcro
tape. In addition to the Velcro tape, attach a strip of adhesive
tape to the bottom of the battery and to the battery slide to
effectively prevent sliding to the front or the rear.
When you have determined the centre of gravity, mark the
flight battery and the fuselage using a marker pen. This
avoids having to determine the center of gravity again each
time after changing the flight battery.
The helicopter features a safety equipment which prevents accidental start-up of the motor. When making contact with
the battery although the transmitter is not turned on, or if the control stick for the pitch (see ill. 1, pos. 18) was not
moved to zero, the control electronics in the model does not transfer a start command to the motor. Only when the
transmitter is turned on and the pitch control stick (ill. 1, pos. 18) was pulled to zero once, the control electronics clears
the normal operating mode. This is signalled by the beeps emitted by the control electronics.
Caution:
To prevent the accidental start-up of the motor if the safety equipment fails, the transmitter should be
turned on. The pitch control stick (ill. 1, pos. 18) must be moved to zero so that no command is transferred
to the throttle. Test this prior to connecting the battery by initially triggering the contact between the battery
and the helicopter just briefly and only establish permanent contact once the motor is sure not to start.
Connect the connection cable with the battery.
e) Setting the center of gravity
Turn the main rotor in such a way that both rotor blades are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the helicopter.
Put one finger each below the rods of the auxiliary paddle of the main rotor. Lift the helicopter up this way. Now the
helicopter should be in horizontal balance. If this is not the case, shift the flight battery accordingly. Important! Always
measure the center of gravity with the cabin hood in place.
Once you have determined the exact battery position, you should mark this accordingly so that you do not
have to readjust the center of gravity each time when reinserting the battery after charging.
