10. Getting started with the transmitter
In the operating instructions, the numbers in the text always refer to the figure opposite or the figures within the
section. Cross references to other figures are indicated with the respective figure number.
a) Inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries
For the power supply of the transmitter you will need 8 alkaline batteries (e.g. Conrad Item No. 652507, pack of 4,
order 2) or rechargeable batteries mignon size (AA). For ecological and also for economical reasons it is recommended
to use rechargeable batteries, since they can be recharged in the transmitter via a built-in charging socket (see figure
1, pos. 9).
To insert the batteries or rechargeable batteries, proceed as follows:
The battery compartment lid (ill. 2, pos. 22) is located on the rear side of the transmitter. Please press the corrugated
triangle and push off the lid downward.
Now insert the eight batteries or rechargeable batteries in the battery compartment. Pay attention to the correct polarity
of the cells. A corresponding indication is located at the bottom of the battery compartment.
Afterwards slide the lid of the battery compartment back on and let the locking mechanism click into place.
b) Charging batteries in the transmitter
When using rechargeable batteries, you can attach a charging cable to the charging jack (se ill. 1, pos. 9) while the
transmitter is switched off to charge the rechargeable batteries in the transmitter. It is very important that you pay
attention to the correct polarity of the connector plug. The inner contact of the charge socket has to be connected to
the plus connection (+) and the outside contact to the minus connection (-) of the charger. The charging current should
be approx. 1/10 of the capacity value of the inserted rechargeable batteries. In order to avoid damage to the internal
circuit paths and connections, please don’t use fast chargers.
Connect the charger only if the rechargeable batteries (1.2V/cell) have been inserted in the transmitter.
Never try to recharge batteries (1.5 V/cells) with the charger. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
When the rechargeable batteries have been recharged or new batteries have been inserted, turn on the transmitter
with the on/off switch (see figure 1, pos. 10) for test purposes. The current voltage is indicated on the display.
In order to avoid the memory effect of NiCd rechargeable batteries, you should connect the charger only when the
rechargeable batteries are completely discharged.
The maximum admissible charge current is 300 mA.
c) Adjusting the transmitter antenna
Always extend the transmitter antenna all the way (ill. 1, pos. 1) to achieve the optimum transmitter radiation to the
model.
The antenna has the strongest radiation to the model if aligned at approx. 90° directly towards the model. Transmis-
sion to the model is worst when you point the antenna tip directly towards the model.
