Recommended Liquids

Care should be taken when selecting the most appropriate heating medium for use with the Immersion Heater Circulator to ensure
optimum performance and user safety. Please refer to the table below as a guide :

Primary Temp Range °C

Recommended Medium

Comments

-30 ~ 50

50% water, 50% laboratory ethylene
glycol

Use a lid to reduce the dilution of the medium caused by
condensing water vapour from the air.

0 ~ 30
0 ~ 100

80% water, 20% laboratory ethylene
glycol

Laboratory ethylene glycol will prevent freezing at 0°C and
reduce evaporation at 100°C and as such is a good all purpose
heating medium. Use a lid to reduce the dilution of the medium
caused by condensing water vapour from the air.

Recommended over water alone for most applications
between 0° and 100°C

5 ~ 60

Water

Water alone is suitable for most low temperature applications,
however laboratory ethylene glycol should be used if working
above 60°C to reduce evaporation, reduce the chance of
scalding by steam and help maintain temperature stability. At
temperatures approaching 100°C the temperature stability
will be affected due to localised boiling if laboratory ethylene
glycol is not used .

The units should not be used to boil

water.
