Verify - Particle Mode
The verification function is used to validate the auto or manual calibration procedure was performed correctly.
1. Select Menu > Verify.
A message displays to insert at verification trap into the desorber and trigger the device.
2. Wearing clean cotton gloves, remove a verification trap from the package.
3. Close the cover immediately to avoid contamination.
4. Insert a verification trap into the desorber, and press Trig, the green button on the navigation pad, or the
green button on the device handle.
A message displays the verification was successful.
5. Remove the verification trap from the desorber, and discard it immediately.
CAUTION: A verification trap MUST be used only once and then discarded after the verification is
performed.
6. Press OK.
The device alarms on RDX/HMX (in Explosives mode) or Ephedrine (in Narcotics mode). The Explosives
Detected or Drugs Detected message displays.

If the
Verification Failed message displays, test the verification trap as a sample, The device should alarm
on
RDX/HMX (in Explosives mode) or Ephedrine (in Narcotics mode). If the alarm displays, the
verification is successful. If it does not display, repeat the calibration and verification. If the Verification
Failed message displays again, contact Rapiscan Systems Technical Support. ( see "Technical Support"
on page 152)
7. Press Clear.
The device begins the clearing process, and a message displays to insert a clean sample trap.
8. Wearing clean cotton gloves, remove a sample trap from the package, or use an existing clean sample
trap that has not exceeded its sampling events.
