8.1.3 Obtaining Technical Support
The instrument generates error messages which in most cases will be sufficient for you
to detect the cause of an error and find a remedy. Error message types are described in
chapter 8, "Error Messages and Troubleshooting"
In addition, our customer support centers are there to assist you in solving any problems
that you may encounter with your network analyzer. We will find solutions more quickly
and efficiently if you provide us with the information listed below. Simply open the relevant
dialogs in the "Info" dialog, select "Save...", and send us the file.
●
Setup Info:
The instrument setup information ("Info > Setup Info") contains your
instrument settings. You can also send us the VNA recall set file (*.znx) that you
generate after the fault occurs ("File > Recall Sets > Save...").
●
Option Info:
The option info ("Info > Option Info") informs us about the status of all
software and hardware options of your analyzer.
●
Hardware Info:
The hardware info ("Info > Hardware Info") shows us the installed
options and hardware assemblies.
●
Error Log:
The error log ("Info > Error Log") contains a chronological record of errors.
●
Save Report:
The system report command ("Info > Save Report") collects the setup,
option, and hardware information as well as the error log and the current selftest
results and writes everything to a *.zip file. The *.zip file also contains the current
eeprom data and a screenshot of the VNA display. It is written to the report directory
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Vna\Report
. The file name contains the current
date and time, e.g.
report_20110125_1658.zip
. "Save Report" provides the
most comprehensive information, comprising all other "Info" files.

8.2 Errors during Firmware Installation/Update
During firmware installation or update, if the installer encounters an error, the update is
cancelled and the analyzer firmware is rolled back to its previous state.
Currently there is only one exception to this rule, which was implemented to gracefully
recover from a failed FPGA update:
