Connecting the R&S
DVMS to the Network
Risk of network failure/virus infection
Before connecting the R&S
DVMS to the network or configuring the network, do the
following:
●
Consult your network administrator.
●
If your network does not support DHCP or if you choose to disable dynamic TCP/IP
configuration, you must assign valid address information before connecting the
R&S
DVMS to the LAN.
Errors can affect the entire network.
Efficient virus protection is a prerequisite for secure operation in the network. Never
connect the R&S
DVMS to a network without proper protection against a virus infec-
tion, as doing so can damage the instrument software.
To connect the R&S
DVMS to the network
1. Fulfill all prerequisites mentioned above.
2. Make sure to switch off the R&S
DVMS. This way you ensure that the R&S
DVMS
detects the network connection reliably and works without any disruptions.
3. Connect the R&S
DVMS to the network using a CAT
‑
7 RJ.45 cable.

Connecting the R&S
DVMS to a Computer
How to set up a LAN connection between an R&S
DVMS and a single computer with-
out integration into a larger network depends on the operating system installed on the
computer.

Windows
7 Operating System
If Windows
7 is installed on the computer, you can set up a LAN connection fast.
1. Activate DHCP on both the computer and the R&S
DVMS.
