1.4 Radiation safety
1.4.1 Electromagnetic exposure safety
For antenna installation on a tower or mast, contact related personnel to close antenna
radiation in advance.
Before entering the electromagnetic radiation over-standard zone, you should confirm the
position of the zone and turn off the transmitter.
High strength radio frequency signal is harmful to human body.
1.4.2 Laser safety
Laser transceiver is used for optical transmission systems and related test. Bare fiber or
connector interface will emit invisible laser with high power density, which may burn your
eyes if you look into the interface directly without any protection.
Comply with the following requirements to prevent laser radiation hazard:
Only authorized personnel with related training can take operation.
Wear goggles when operating laser or fibers.
Shut down the power source before disconnecting optical fiber connectors.
Cover the optical interface and the connected fiber-optical splice with dust cap when
pulling out the fiber to protect eyes.
In an uncertain power status, do not stare at the bare optical fiber or connector.
Measure optical power by using an optical power meter to confirm whether the optical
source has been shut down.
Avoid laser radiation before opening the front door of optical fiber transmission system.
Do not use microscope, magnifier, loupe, or other optical instruments to look at fiber
connectors or fiber ends.
Obey the following requirements when operating optical fibers:
Only trained personnel can cut and weld optical fiber.
Before cutting or welding an optical fiber, disconnect the fiber with optical source. Then
use fiber caps to cover all fiber connectors.
1.5 Mechanical safety
1.5.1 Drilling
Comply with the following requirements for cabinet drilling:
Remove cables in the cabinet.
Wear goggles to avoid injury caused by sprayed metal particles.
Be careful not to let metal particles enter the cabinet. Clear off the metal particles after
drilling.
