Chapter 6
PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION AND ADJUSTMENTS
Introduction
This Chapter describes the procedures for checking that the
UCT Instrument conforms to its published specifications when
fitted to a Racal 2460 VXI Instrument module. It is
recommended that these procedures are carried out at a
minimum interval of one year.
The following conditions must be kept throughput the
Performance Verification Procedure (PVP).
(1)
The instrument covers must be fitted.
(2)
The ambient temperature must be 23C
o
+/-2
o
C.
(3)
The UCT must be allowed to warm up for a least
one hour before commencing the PVP.
In the following procedures, a stable count is defined as one
that does not vary by more than +/- one count in the least
significant digit of resolution between successive readings.
Note that these procedures check the measurement circuitry of
the UCT but not the absolute accuracy. Absolute accuracies
must be calculated from the expressions given in the
Specifications section of this manual after finding the timebase
errors that apply to the external frequency standard or CLK10
signals used by the UCT.
Test Equipment
Required
(1) Signal Generator, 10kHz to 1.3GHz
(2) Function Generator, DC to 10kHz
(3) DC Voltage Calibrator
(4) Digital Multimeter, +/- 5% Accuracy, DC to 100kHz
(5) RF Millivoltmeter,
(6) Various RF connectors, adapters, T-pieces and coaxial
cables, as required.
Note:
In the following procedures, it is recommended that all
signal levels are measured with the Digital Multimeter or
RF Millivoltmeter, as appropriate, and adjusted to give a
level as close to its nominal value as can be achieved
before being applied to the UCT.
