ActiveScale™ OS X100 Rackless Installation Guide

• Each slot must contain either a populated sled or a sled blank.
• Each Storage Enclosure Basic must have the same configuration of populated sleds and sled blanks.
• All the drives in a sled must be the same type and capacity of drive.
• Each sled must be fully populated with 14 drives.
• Each populated sled in a column must use the same type and capacity of drives as the other populated

sleds in the same column. However, columns do not need to use identical drives. For example, column

A could use all 10 TB drives, and column B could use all 12 TB drives.

• Populated sleds must be inserted contiguously on the left side of the Storage Enclosure Basic. That is,

there can not be any sled blanks between populated sleds.

• Populated sleds must be added to Storage Enclosure Basics in one column increments. That is,

ActiveScale X100 systems are scaled up in increments of six sleds.
