PART 2: QUADRATOP 4-POINT HARDTOP HOIST SYSTEM INSTALLATION
SIDE TO SIDE RAFTER
A. Mounting boards are used to position hoist directly
above object to be lifted. Mounting boards should
span a minimum of three rafters.
STEP 1: LOCATION OF MOUNTING BOARDS
DO NOT SCREW INTO LAMINATED RAFTERS. THEY ARE NOT INTENDED TO ACCEPT
FASTENERS. CONSULT RAFTER MAKER FOR RECOMMENDATIONS. SCREWING INTO
LAMINATED RAFTERS MAY CONSIDERABLY WEAKEN SYSTEM, CAUSING LOAD TO FALL
AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
NOTICE
MOUNTING BOARDS MAY NOT BE NECESSARY FOR INSTALLATION IN CEILINGS WITH
EXPOSED RAFTERS. IF RAFTERS ARE EXPOSED HOIST SYSTEM CAN BE MOUNTED
DIRECTLY ON RAFTERS.
B. Determine distance between mounting boards. Center
of mounting boards should match the distance between
the hardtop’s lifting points. Hardtop should be balanced
while lifting.
C. To insure a balanced system measure from door
opening, just ahead of side window, to rear lift gate
opening. This measurment will be used to correctly
space mounting boards to ceiling.
