If your printer has a hard disk, make sure the printer’s disk-swap-
ping option is on. Use the printer control panel to do this. (Infor-
mation on using the control panel is in chapter 1 “Printer
Configuration,” in the reference guide.) Choose Yes in the Admin-
istration/Memory/Enable Disk Swap menu. Disk swapping allows
the printer to use the hard disk to supplement RAM when neces-
sary.
Control Panel Selections Don't Take Effect

Remember that any commands sent by your application or printer
driver will override control panel settings. The control panel only
controls printer default settings.

Make sure you're saving menu selections before exiting the
menu. (See “Saving Configuration Selections” in chapter 1,
“Printer Configuration,” in the reference guide).

Some configuration selections do not take effect until the printer
has been rebooted. Look in chapter 1, “Printer Configuration,” in
the reference guide to see if the selection you are making
requires a reboot.
Data LED Stays On After the Printer Warms

If you are downloading additional fonts, too many can overload
the printer's memory causing the printer to reset and lose infor-
mation previously downloaded to RAM. Make sure you have
enough printer memory for the additional fonts. Additional mem-
ory (RAM) is available and easily installed. Contact your QMS
vendor for information on RAM upgrades.
