Installing the
QMS Level 2
Windows Driver
If you purchased your printer with an internal hard disk installed,
see “About Internal Hard Disks” on page 17 of this chapter for
information on taking advantage of it.
Installing the QMS Level 2
Windows Driver
The QMS-developed Level 2 Windows driver supports all the printer's
features. Use the following procedure to install the driver.
» Note:
The QMS Level 2 Windows driver has the Compress Output
setting enabled by default. This feature decreases the time the file
stays out on the network because the data is compressed at the host,
transferred to the printer, and then decompressed. However, for users
who are not on a network, this feature slows printing via the parallel
port. To disable this feature, select the Output tab, choose Options,
and click Compress Output.
1 Turn on your PC and start Windows.
» Note:
Running the installation program outside of Windows will
automatically start Windows and run the program.
2 Insert the QMS “Windows Driver” disk (shipped with your
printer) in the PC’s 3.5" disk drive.
3 In Windows 3.x File Manager, double-click
SETUP.EXE
from
the directory window for the appropriate PC drive.
4 From Windows 95, choose Run from the Start menu and dou-
ble-click
SETUP.EXE
from the directory window for the
appropriate PC drive.
5 Read the license agreement, and then choose
YES
.
6 Select the destination hard disk.
7 Specify the installation directory.
8 Select the QMS
magicolor
CX printer.
