7.3 Cleaning the lens array
The following items are required for cleaning the lens array
beneath the heating block:

Ethanol (70%)

Clean, nonabrasive, lint-free cloths
Procedure:
1.
Shut down the instrument, see Section 7.1.
2. Open the instrument lid.
3. Loosen the bayonet screw behind the heating block by
turning it ¼ turn counter-clockwise until a click is heard.
4. Lift out the heating block. Avoid damaging the contact
pins on the underside of the block.
5. Carefully clean the lens array with a cloth moistened with
70% ethanol.
6. Let the lens array dry before remounting the heating
block.
7. Place the heating block on top of the lens array. Ensure
that the rear part of the heating block is properly seated
over the contact pins. Do not force the heating block into
place.
8. Turn the bayonet screw ¼ turn clockwise.
7.4 Cleaning the heating block
The following items are required for cleaning the heating
block:

Ethanol (70%)

Cotton swabs
Procedure:
1.
Shut down the instrument, see Section 7.1.
2. Open the instrument lid.
3. Clean each well hole in turn with a cotton swab
moistened with 70% ethanol.
4. Allow the heating block to dry before closing the
instrument lid.
