Communications Ports

7.1

Port 1 (J3): USB Maintenance Panel

This port is a standard USB type B port for connection to a PC. It is used as a
Maintenance Port, to program and troubleshoot the ePAQ-9400. Using a PC with a
USB port and a straight USB type A-B cable, the ePAQ can be accessed in one of
two ways, 1) via ConfigWiz 2.0, to download configurations and flashload program
link files, 2) via HyperTerminal (or other such terminal emulator program), to gain
access to included test panel functions.

An 8-pin RJ45 connector (pin 1 bottom left) is used for connections to an external
communications device, such as a RS-232 interface modem or radio. RS-232
signals in this connector are:
