Preventative Maintenance
You do not need to perform regular preventative maintenance on the
Imager 8000 2D Reader. Do not try to open the case, because you
might damage the interior electronic components and such action
voids the warranty.
You can keep your reader in good operating condition by:
• Keeping the reading window clean — wash with water or
mild detergent solution and a soft cloth or tissue. Rinse with
water.
• Guarding against any damage to the housing.
• Replacing worn cables (you will need to remove the screw in
the bottom of the handle, pull the bottom of the handle
down, and release the keyed 10-pin modular plug from the
socket. Insert the new cable and reassemble the handle).
If you need to order a new cable, ensure you have the part number of
the original interface cable. The part number is located on the label
attached to the cable.

To remove/replace the Interface cable:
1. Loosen the captive screw from the handle.
2. Swing the retaining clamp free from the cable assembly.
3. Holding onto the handle, gently but firmly pull the cable free
from the handle.
CAUTION
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents on the Reader’s
window to avoid scratches. Do not use solvents on the
housing or window to avoid damage. Do not submerge
the Reader in water. It is not waterproof.
