Appendix B

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Cable Connections

Ensure your reader-to-host interface cable (I/F) and the Reader
power supply cable are correctly and firmly attached.

The Imager 8000 2D Reader requires a preinstalled 9- or 25-pin con-
nector interface (I/F) cable and an AC/DC power adapter approved
by PSC.

To install your reader to your host system, follow these instructions
(refer to Figure B-1):

With the host powered down, connect the I/F cable to the
proper port on the host terminal.

Connect the power cord to the I/F cable.

Connect the AC/DC power adapter at the wall outlet.

Turn on the host computer.

If the Reader is simply not functioning, contact your service represen-
tative or contact PSC. See

Contacting PSC

in this section.

CAUTION

To avoid possible damage, consult your host terminal/
PC operator’s manual for instructions on powering down
the host system before connecting peripheral devices.
