 2D Handheld Reader

Software Flow Control

 [Default = No flow control]

Flow Control

 (“Handshaking”) — This option includes

software and hardware flow control, plus Request To
Send (RTS) functionality. Review your system documen-
tation to identify specific requirements for your installa-
tion.

No Flow Control

 — The Reader will transmit to the host

when the Reader has data to send.

XON/XOFF

 — This control allows the host to control all

data transmission from the Reader. When the host sends
an XOFF character, the Reader will suspend data trans-
mission until it receives an XON character, or until it is
power cycled, or until the XON/XOFF flow control is
disabled.

ACK/NAK

 — Controls when a decoded bar code symbol is

sent to a host system. The Reader waits for an ACK sig-
nal. If no ACK is received within two seconds, or a NAK
is received, the decoded symbol data is retransmitted.
This process is repeated three times before abandoning
the effort and sending three beeps to indicate an error.

CTS

(Clear to Send) [Default = CTS Off]. In addition to physi-

cally pulling the Reader’s trigger, a CTS signal from the
host terminal can be used to trigger a capture and decode
activation signal.

CTS Off

 — The CTS signal is ignored by the Reader.

Trigger High

(+) — When the host sets CTS to high, the

Reader will capture and decode an image as if the trigger
were depressed.

Trigger Low

(-) — When the host sets CTS to low, the

Reader will capture and decode an image as if the trigger
was depressed.

Flow High

(+) — When the host sets CTS to high, the

Reader will transmit data. When the host sets CTS to low,
the Reader will suspend data transmission.

Flow Low

(-) — When the host sets CTS to low, the Reader

will transmit data. When the host sets CTS to high, the
Reader will suspend data transmission.
