PrusaSlicer can estimate the printing time and amount of resin needed
6.9.4. Exposure time explained
PrusaSlicer allows you to
change the exposure time
(the number of seconds for which a single
layer is cured) for standard layers and first layers separately. There are no “universally usable”
numbers, so
we recommend using the preconfigured PrusaSlicer profiles.
We have tested over
a hundred of different resins, and prepared tested profiles for each of them. Using our built-in
profiles is recommended. If the resin you bought is not listed in PrusaSlicer,
you can tweak the
values yourself
- sticking to 1.8-2.2 seconds for standard layers and 12-25 seconds for first layers
is a good practice.
The SL1S features a
high-performance UV LED panel,
which has enough power to reach very
short exposure times while retaining great surface properties of the printed model. Going under
1.6 seconds is possible, however,
most resins won’t solidify in such a short amount of time.
The
prints will start to lose detail or won’t have enough time to solidify completely, and won’t stick to
the rest of the object, resulting in a failed print. However, some resins on the market can be cured
with as low as 1.4-second exposure (e.g., transparent resins). The best option is to
use resins with
pre-made presets in PrusaSlicer,
which also feature correct exposure times.
It is possible to change the exposure time before, or even during the print by going into
