Forum 5004/5008/5012 and Gateways
An audio channel is seized when an audio connection is to be established
between VoIP and TDM. Alongside call connections from VoIP telephones to
TDM terminals, this comprises:
●
Call connections between 2 TDM terminals connected to different
hardware units.
●
Music on Hold: generated as VoIP data stream by the Forum 5004/5008/
5012 communications system.
●
Forum Voicemail and Forum Auto Attendant: Recording and playing as
VoIP data stream via the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications
system.
●
Audio tones such as ringing tone, busy signal, dialling tone, etc. are
generated as VoIP data stream by the Forum 5004/5008/5012 commu-
nications system.
Note:
TDM terminals on the same gateway do not seize an audio
channel during call mode, however, the terminals do briefly
seize an audio channel for the dial tone while establishing the
call connection.
DECT Synchronisation
The IP-based connection between the hardware units of the Forum 5004/
5008/5012 communications system and does not allow transmission of a
TDM synchronisation signal. The TDM synchronisation signal is, however,
generally necessary for operating DECT base stations (TDM RFPs). This
means that all DECT base stations connected via U
pn
have to be connected to
the same hardware unit in order to support a transparent handover between
the DECT base stations.
Gateway Configuration
The call server must be configured for this operation if you operate a call
server along with one or multiple gateways. The various configuration
variants are described in the following sections.
