INSPECTION: (Figures 5 and 6)
Before each use, visually inspect the SRL according to the following steps:
Step 1. inspect the SRL for loose screws, bent or damaged parts.
Step 2. inspect the housing for distortion, cracks, or other damage. Ensure the anchorage point is not
damaged or distorted.
Step 3. check that the lifeline fully extends and retracts smoothly with no hesitation or slack line condition.
Step 4. Ensure the device locks when the lifeline is pulled sharply. Lock up should be positive, with no
slipping.
Step 5. inspect the entire unit for corrosion.
Step 6. inspect the lifeline for cuts, burns, chemical damage, or severely abraded areas. the lifeline must not
be damaged and the energy absorbers must not display signs of deployment.
Step 7. inspect the connecting hooks or carabiners for damage, distortion, or corrosion, and working
condition.
Step 8. inspect each component of the personal fall arrest system according to the manufacturer’s
instructions. if the inspection reveals an unsafe or defective condition, or the SRL has been subjected
to impact or fall arrest loads, it must be removed from service and returned to an authorized service
center for repairs.
Step 9. Record the inspection date and results in the inspection log in the
General Instruction 5902392

Extreme working conditions (harsh environment, prolonged use, etc.) may require increased
frequency of inspections.
