8-6 Supply Cassette

Note: The latest supply casette changes include:

• New shaft - to center the media with the pin registration punch  system and

take-up cassette.

• Removal of the spacer/washer located between the thumb screw 

and

left hub to center the media with the pin registration punch 

system and take-up

cassette.

• Anti-slip tape and hold down clip. (Note: Hold down clip supject to 
change. Check with Support Services.)

8-6.1 Shaft Positioning
The supply cassette shaft is positioned in the supply cassette between the (left) set screw and
the (right) ball plunger screw.

The left set screw is used to offset the shaft position to keep the shaft left end from digging
into the cassette plastic housing. Adjusting the left set screw will also change the margin
width and the punch hole to media position. Do not allow the left set screw to offset shaft
more than .002".

The right ball plunger screw is used to push and hold the shaft against the left set screw. The
spring loaded ball plunger tip should be compressed slightly to ensure stable shaft position.

The supply cassette may be configured for different media widths. Refer to the PantherPro/46
User's Guide for configuration information.

8-6.2 Anti-slip Tape and Hold Down Clip Installation (Refer to Figure 8-4)

General Overview

The PantherPro/46 image recorders shipped prior to October, 1994 may require installation
of anti-slip/stick tape at the point of contact between the media shaft and the supply cassette
(pedestal). The installation of the tape would be necessary only if there are banding artifacts,
most noticable at the fist inch or so of an image.

 An anti-slip tape hold down clip has also been released to secure the tape to the supply
cassette pedestal.
