8-2 PCB (Jumpers, LED's, Switches, etc.) Reference/Adjustments
The following details the switch settings, LED's, and jumpers found on the PC boards.
8-2.1 Big Output Board/WCB
8-2.1.1 Recorder Output Module Section (ROPM)
The ROPM section of the BOB/WCB contains some switches and LEDs which are useful in
diagnosing errors. The switches and LEDs are described below, and a procedure is given for
using the switches. Also, the action of the LEDs during output of a normal image is described.
Switches
A 4-position dipswitch, SW4, is located on the right upper side of the BOB/WCB. These
switches should all be in the open position for normal operation. The purpose of each switch
position is explained as follows:
1 2 3 4
SW4
Note: The LEDs mentioned in this section (OK, LOCK, etc.) are described in the LEDs
section.
Switch 1 - PGEN - Sets Page Enable, allowing start pulses to be found. Provided the
polygon is up to speed (speed OK), the laser will do the normal functions of sample/hold and
enhance, finding start pulses. If the laser beam path is interrupted or blocked, (by a laser
power meter, for example) the laser enhance power is kept on, searching for a start pulse
(from SOL sensor). Once a start pulse signal is fed back to the BOB/WCB, via the SOL/SOL
Amplifier and High Speed Laser Amplifier PCB, the laser beam power level will switch to
sample/hold (imaging) mode.
This provides a simple means for checking or adjusting the "enhance" laser power level and
to determine if the SOL sensor generates the 'START' signal.
During normal operation, with polygon up to speed, the LOCK, OK, STOK, and VID LEDs will
be lit.
Switch 2 - SHOLD - Forces Sample/Hold on for laser power calibration. This switch forces
video 'ones' pixels to be output continuously by the laser. This provides a simple means of
checking or adjusting the 'imaging' laser power level. The laser intensity is set by
hexadecimal data (intensity register/exposure setting) sent to a digital to analog converter.
During normal operation, LOCK, OK, and VID LEDs will be lit.
