9 Malfunctions
Warranty
Malfunctioning of the equipment as a direct result of contamination or wear, as well as wear
parts (e.g. ignition aid) is not covered by the warranty.
Malfunction Possible cause Remedy
Continuous measuring signal < 0.5 V
"Error low" No supply 1. Check the gauge connec-
tion.
2. Establish the supply volt-
age.
Continuous measuring signal > 9.5 V
"Error high" Pirani measuring ele-
ment defective (broken
filament)
Replace the Pirani measuring
element.
Electronic unit not fully
inserted
Fully insert electronic unit.
Green LED lights up and identification
indicates pure Pirani operation.
(continuous measuring signal > 4.0 V)
("Pirani underrange")
Cold cathodes dis-
charge has not ignited.
Wait until the gas discharge ig-
nites. (Complete failure is possi-
ble in the event of contamina-
tion with insulating layers.)
Gauge was only activat-
ed at p < 3 × 10 -9 hPa.
Let a little amount of gas flow in.
Continuous measuring signal > 5 V or
display > 10 -3 hPa, despite good vac-
uum
Pirani measurement
system not calibrated,
e.g. heavily contaminat-
ed
Calibrate the Pirani measure-
ment system or replace the Pi-
rani element if it can no longer
be calibrated.
