Replacing the vehicle key battery
WARNING
Risk of internal burns or
death from swallowing
the lithium coin cell
(button battery)
The vehicle key contains a lithium coin cell (battery).
Swallowing the battery can cause internal burns
within two hours and this can result in death.
e Keep removed or new batteries out of children's
reach.
e Keep vehicle keys out of children's reach. Chil-
dren could open the vehicle key and remove the
battery.
e If the battery is swallowed or inserted into a body
orifice, seek medical attention from a doctor
immediately.

e Observe the disposal instructions for batteries.
If the battery in the vehicle key needs to be replaced,
a message appears in the instrument cluster. The
Porsche emblem on the vehicle key no longer lights
up when the vehicle key is used.

1. Remove the emergency key.
2. Unclip the vehicle key housing to the right and
left.
3. Turn the battery cover counterclockwise and re-
move it.
4. Change the battery (check polarity).
5. Put the battery cover back on and tighten it
clockwise.
Ensure that the emergency key can be pushed in
again.
6. Push the vehicle key housing upwards from be-
low and clip into place.
7. Insert the emergency key.
Starting the vehicle with dis-
charged vehicle key battery or ra-
dio interference
Malfunctions during wireless communication be-
tween the vehicle and the vehicle key, or a dis-
charged vehicle key battery can disable detection of
the vehicle key.
Then, when switching on the vehicle, pay particular
attention to the following:
1. Put the vehicle key in the rear drink holder in the
center console. Hold the vehicle key against the
front wall of the drink holder.
2. Press the power button and switch on the
vehicle.
Ordering a replacement key and
keeping it in a safe place
Vehicle keys can only be ordered from an authorized
Porsche dealer. This can take a long time.
e Always have a replacement key available.
e Keep the replacement key in a safe place, but
under no circumstances in or on the vehicle.
To teach new vehicle keys for the vehicle:
e
Visit an authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche rec-
ommends an authorized Porsche dealer, as they
have trained technicians and the necessary parts
and tools.
e Teach all vehicle keys belonging to the vehicle
again.

A total of eight vehicle keys can be taught.

e
If a vehicle key is lost or stolen, have an author-
ized Porsche dealer disable this vehicle key in the
vehicle and change the mechanical locks if
necessary.
e
You should notify your insurance company of the
loss or theft of vehicle keys or of the production
of additional or replacement keys.
